Conduit Crushes Kafka Connect
May 18, 2025Some weeks ago, the Conduit team sat down to discuss what we should be working on next. Our latest minor release 0.13.0, was on February, and even though we have kept working on a bunch of different things (including several other Conduit releases), the team felt we needed to start really benchmarking ourselves against Kafka Connect.
We always knew that our developer experience was significantly better due to several factors. These include our Connector SDK, the ease of configuration through Pipeline configuration files, our default CDC nature, our CLI, and our ability to run it almost anywhere thanks to its low footprint (it’s all Go). It was time to gather real numbers so that people understand the value we have.
Here’s a blog post I wrote talking about the experience of testing a Postgres to Kafka pipeline using both Conduit and Kafka Connect. Hope you like it, and please let me know what you think by reaching out at hi [at] raulb [dot] dev.
